Hi there! πŸ‘‹

My name is Laura Alcober, but everybody calls me Lau. I full-time work as Backend Engineer and part-time study Computer Engineering at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. I’m also currently coordinating the local Python community in Zaragoza, so feel free to reach me about anything Python-related or restaurant recommendations around here.

You can find me writing about my personal projects, how-to’s that I want to keep for the future me, some SQL, my views and experiences on women (me) in tech (doing stuff) and occasional ranting.

As many of us, I love to solve problems and finding out new creative, fast, sustainable and inclusive ways of doing it. Why making it plain-boring when things can be simply awesome? My purpose here, on this blog and out there, is achieving some warm and welcoming place for self-expression, experimentation, discovery and learning. If you don’t consider yourself an inclusive, tolerant individual, this is surely not your place. TL;DR: No TERFS. No fascists.

You might find of your interest that I love playing tabletop RPG and I write and layout my own modules (may I upload them here? Not sure… πŸ€”), so you can always reach me out on this subject too! As you see, I really enjoy reading, writing and almost any related activity. I also love to dance jazz and if I had to choose something to drink, specialty coffee and sour beer are always a hit! I live with my cat Sam, named after all the great fiction Sam’s that ever existed:

  1. Samuel Vimes
  2. Samwise Gamgee
  3. Samwell Tarly
  4. and Sam Puckket

I’m afraid he doesn’t look like any of the above. But he always keeps my ankles bitten when I’m on front of the laptop.

I hope these lines helped you getting to know me better. See you around!
